Statement

Meditation focuses on emptying the mind of thoughts, allowing for a heightened awareness of simply being. This tension between emptiness and fullness, between positive and negative space, is a central thread in my work. I strive to create compositions where forms can breathe—where space is as vital as shape—bringing fluidity and balance to the piece.

Color is one of my greatest inspirations. As I paint, I explore how colors interact, rarely existing in isolation but instead forming conversations with one another. Much like music, where individual notes gain meaning in harmony, color gains power through contrast and connection. Shifting between transparent and opaque, bright and subdued, color helps transition forms from positive to negative space, setting the composition in motion and establishing mood.

My process moves between two modes of decision-making—though in truth, there are infinite gradations between them. At times, I surrender conscious control, allowing spontaneous, automatic gestures to guide the composition. At others, I slow down, considering each move carefully—evaluating color, tone, and balance as the painting unfolds. Some works arrive quickly; others evolve over months. Each one becomes a stepping stone to the next, part of an ongoing exploration.
